Announcements:  Our Chapter Picnic will be Monday, October 19th at 7:30 p.m. in the Commons.  We’re starting later to accommodate the JV Football game at Tri Valley.  This will be CASUAL DRESS. All this talk about GMOs may have you believing that just about every food we reach for is considered a GMO.  How many GMO crops are there really?

Read this article to find out.  List the GM crops in your blog post.  Which GM crop is the only one that is grown in Europe?  Which GM crop is not currently grown anywhere in the world?  What is the product produced from Rapeseed (Canola)?  Which GM crop is likely to be grown in Europe soon?  Which countries are the primary growers of GM Cotton?  What is the real reason that 80% of the world’s Rice fields are flooded?

Read this article.  What two basic categories of GMO crops do they discuss?  Which crops have developed a Bt variety?  What is BT, what does it do?  What is a “stacked” crop?

Which GM crop has had the fasted growth in acres planted over the past 20 or so years?

In 2015, what percent of acres in the US were planted to each of the following:

HT Soybeans, HT Cotton, Bt Cotton, Bt Corn, HT Corn
