Personal Prisons

We lock ourselves up in all sorts of “prisons”.  These prisons lock us away from our accomplishments, relationships, achieving our goals, trying something new…..

What personal prisons have you built for yourself out of fears?  What things are you afraid of that are keeping you from really achieving greatness?  Do you fear not being good at something right away and that’s keeping you from even trying it?  Does your fear of not being good enough keep you from playing basketball or going out for wrestling, or participating in some other activity or hobby?  Does that fear keep you from having awesome experiences with teammates?  Wouldn’t riding the bench at a state tournament be a great opportunity to support your teammates and learn more about the “game”? If you were too afraid to even go out for the team, you never would have had those experiences.  Does the fear of rejection keep you from asking out that special someone? What do you have to loose – all they can say is yes, or no?  Prisons limit our freedom and ability to do things.  How have you limited your own ability to do something because of fear; or sheer laziness?  What things are you afraid of that keep you from trying something?  Conversely, do you have friends who can’t step over their fear of failure to try something new?
